Apollo X4500 additional disk expansion process
Hello Team,
Currently we are using Apollo X4500 Gen10 model. In that system is having 16 disks. One set of 8 disks in left cage and another 8 disks are in another right cage.
Now additionally 12 disks to be added and in that 6 disks to be added left cage and another 6 disks to be added right cage.
Our clarifications:
- Is it down time needed apollo server to physically adding the disks
- After adding the disks the normal process of expaning array and logical volumes.
- ANy process for the physical disks and expanding the array level.

Re: Apollo X4500 additional disk expansion process
- Is it down time needed apollo server to physically adding the disks?
We'd suggest to take a valid data backup and a downtime. Add drives and then proceed with the array expansion.
The below might help -
https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/videoDisplay?videoId=vpsg00004716en_us
- After adding the disks the normal process of expaning array and logical volumes.
To expand the array, please follow the following document -
https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docId=sf000052332en_us&docLocale=en_US
It also depends on your current RAID configuration.
- ANy process for the physical disks and expanding the array level.
Please follow the SSA user guide for steps and process details -
