Add new AF40 to Horizon 8 (Instant-clone desktop pools)

Our current Horizon 8 storage resides on an AF3000.  I have an AF40 ready to add to our VDI vSphere.  The idea is to migrate everything on the AF3000 to the new AF40 and then use the AF3000 in our other vSphere environment (retire it from VDI).

I was looking at the documentation regarding creating a Nimble Storage group and adding the new AF40 to it and following a number of steps very carefully but it seems a bit trickey and I'm not sure about it yet.

The other way would be to add the AF40 to VDI vSphere and then migrate the VMs from one storage to another.  Actually not so easy with linked clones although it can be done by using Rebalance.

However we don't use Linked Clones any longer.  Instant-Clone is what we use and I was wondering if anyone has been through this and if so what steps were taken.  Was there downtime?

VMware Support:

Go through the KB it gives you a few options in theory you should be able to add new storage to the existing pool and then disable the older storage at the same time. Once you do this any new desktops will be provisioned on the new storage any old vms will remain on the old until they are refreshed/reprovisioned. But I always like side by side. Just build a new pool pointing to the new storage resources and existing parents? Then you can present the new pool to users along side the older pool and test. Once everyone sessions show up on the new pool and you feel good about performance you can unpresent the older pool to your users and decommission.
