HPE Alletra Storage MP X10000 object storage helps meet the needs of a flexible, consolidated, on-premises backup and restore implementation with the ability to easily upgrade primary and object storage. The data protection solution components include HPE Alletra Storage MP X10000 along with backup software of your choice, such as Commvault Cloud Backup and Recovery, which manages the backup processes and HPE StoreOnce Virtual Storage Appliance (VSA) that provides space efficient, secure backups for long-term cost-effective retention either on-premises or in the cloud. For optimization of efficiency and security, you can choose to deploy HPE StoreOnce VSA and then backup to the X10000 while for rapid backup and restore performance, you can directly backup data to the X10000.

For production workloads such as a database application with short backup windows and fast recovery requirements, leverage the performance of HPE Alletra Storage MP X10000 to directly backup from backup servers or from the application using its native data protection tools. For applications that demand a data protection solution with high efficiency, you can deploy HPE StoreOnce VSA with HPE StoreOnce Catalyst that delivers ultra efficient source side deduplication to reduce backup capacity requirements up to 20x and then utilize HPE Alletra Storage MP X10000 as a backup target.  Secure by design 

This solution implements an end-to-end encryption for the data. TLS (Transport Layer Security) protocol was used for data transmitted through the Ethernet and HPE StoreOnce VSA encrypted all data sent to HPE Alletra Storage MP X10000. Encrypted stored data is referred to as data-at-rest encryption and is often required by regulations and standards to ensure data privacy and security. 

Another key factor in securing your data is immutability – the ability to protect it from any changes, whatsoever, until its planned obsolescence. Leading backup software like Commvault Cloud Backup and Recovery and HPE StoreOnce VSA are integrated and works together to coordinate planned immutability schedules – down to individual backups – to make sure data is protected from bad actors or threats. Some of the other features of the HPE Alletra Storage MP X10000 include:

• Monitoring – Data Services Cloud Console allows easy monitoring of the X10000 environment. 

• Data Integrity – Data  integrity is provided through always-on background processes that check for corruption. If an error is found it gets resolved immediately. The X10000 will achieve high durability by erasure coding both data and metadata across disks within a JBOF (that’s “Just a bunch of Flash”). 

• Authentication – Privileged Access Management (PAM) protects from cyberthreats managing access to critical resources and data. The X10000 provides support for authentication and authorization. Two-factor authentication is provided via the Data Services Cloud Console  

• Data Security – The X10000 provides support for multiple security features and capabilities, including SSL (Secure Sockets Layer), TLS 1.3 (the latest version of the Transport Layer Security protocol), and a dedicated backend management network.  

• Auditing & Accountability – Auditing is provided through the Data Services Cloud Console.
