Hi All,
I remember hearing at one time that Nimble was in the process of making/providing a script (or function in the management GUI) to remove all orphaned snapshots from an array. Is this accurate? How can a customer go about getting it? Manually removing orphaned snapshots on 50+ volumes is time consuming, especially when there is approximately 30 seconds worth of processing time once you confirm the snapshot removal on the volume.
Also, what is the proper way to ensure that orphaned snapshots do NOT occur if removing a volume from a protection group?
Thanks

Re: Script To Remove ALL Orphaned Snapshots
Hi C W,
I noticed that your question has been outstanding for a couple days. I do not know the answer off-hand, but wanted to let you know that I have reached out to our internal Support & Product Management teams to see if they could provide any guidance. I will happily post an official answer once I hear back.
Have a great weekend!

SolutionHello again, C W,
I heard back from a Customer Support manager regarding your question. Here is the response:
"Support will be able to generate a script based on array autosupport, which will remove orphaned snapshots en-masse. Please have the customer call into Nimble Support, we will be able to provide the script based on customer’s array autosupport."
In other words, a script can be generated, but it is specific to an individual array, which is why you have to reach out to Support. No definitive word on if/when the ability to remove orphaned snapshots en-mass will be added to the GUI.
Hope that helps.
