Hi
Is there a maxmium size for a deduplication volume on an Alletra 6030? I've seen mention of 127TiB but I wasn't sure if this applies to both dedupe and non-deduped volumes.
Secondly, if the 'default' pool is configured with 'deduplication enabled' and I attempt to create a new volume (using the VCSA plug-in) and untick the deduplication 'enabled' check box. does the volume creation fail or is this setting just ignored and a new deduped, thinly provisioned volume created all the same?
many thanks

Re: Query: Alletra 6000 max dedupe volume size
Hello @CadenLange,,
It doesn't matter if the volume is deduplicated or compressed. The maximum supported size of the volume is 127TiB by virtual space, not the physical space. Because the maximum supported size is with reference to the index table. It remains same for deduplicated volumes and even for snapshots though the actual utilization is very ow.
If you enable deduplication, you may save some physical space that can be utilised by other volumes. But the maximum (virtual) size of the volume will still remain to be 127TiB.

SolutionHi CadenLange
The maximum supported size for a deduplicated volume on HPE Alletra 6030 is 127TiB. This limit applies only to deduplicated volumes and not to non-deduplicated volumes.
If the default pool is configured with deduplication enabled and you attempt to create a new volume with the deduplication checkbox unticked, the volume creation should succeed, and a new volume without deduplication will be created. The deduplication setting is a per-volume setting, not a pool-wide setting. Therefore, the setting will not affect the creation of new volumes that do not use deduplication.
Hope this helps.!!
Regards
Mahesh
