Hello,
I have replaced failed ssd on my CS500 with the new one, everything looks fine till now.
After a couple of hourse i've recived a message:
Message: Disk firmware update failed on disks with the following S/N: ********************. There is no impact on the data and management service. The update operation will be retried.
What should i do now, thats my first replacing dive in that unit.

Re: HPE NIMBLE CS500
Hi j-marczak
I would like to know whether any OS update is in progress.
could you please issue a command software --update_status to check if any update is in progress/failed?
Regards
Mahesh

Re: HPE NIMBLE CS500
Firmware update on a disk can fail due to multiple reasons, including a faulty disk., or errors on the new, perhaps a wrong model number.
Have you verified the model number of SSD matches with existing ones on the array ?
With CS500 reached EOSL a while back, there is nothing much can be done.
You may try reseating the disk and see if it repeats, if it does not work please try a replacement SSD.

Re: HPE NIMBLE CS500
Ideally, we at support team, verify internal logs to identify why the firmware update failed and sometimes update the firmware manually for the disk with assistance from the Engineering team.
However, in this case, the array has reached its End of Service Life (EOSL) and is no longer supported by HPE.
You may try replacing the SSD, but we cannot guarantee that it will resolve the issue.
