Move volumes between intiator groups?

Somehow we have two iSCSI initiator groups (containing the same ESXi 5.5 hosts) created. Each group has unique volumes assigned to it. I'd like to move all my volumes to a single group with little to no pain.

Possible?

Thanks

Ron

Re: Move volumes between intiator groups?

Ron,

Call the support centre to check.

I don't see a reason why this won't work.  Volumes can be in multiple initiator groups at the same time so if you add the volumes from one initiator group to the other and then remove the first group, it should be fine.  Providing the hosts and volumes are always in a group that allows access it should be seamless.

Hey Peter,

Thanks for the reply. Maybe I'll spin up a test volume and try moving it. I've always be paraniod about detaching storage but that probably comes from issues of old days when ESX hosts would hang

I tried it using the simulator with no ill effects but that's probably too far from a real world environment to be relied upon.

Being paranoid is a sensible starting point for any systems administrator

I've probably been one too darn long.

I verified as well. Easy squeezy just like most things on these arrays.
