Nimble AF20 Best Practice Network 2021
Hello, my customer wants to change his network. What is the best practice in terms of network. Today the two AF20 connected with 2 x iSCSI to the two vSwitches iSCSI_A and iSCSI_B are untagged with their own network. The mgmt ports eth0a of controller A & B are also untagged, as are the two replication ports tg3b to the other AF20. Is that still the best with untagged ports on the Nimble's? The ESXi's are all untagged now (4 x 10Gb Ports = 2 x 10Gb Mgmt and one each for iSCSI_A and iSCSI_B). What's the recommendation here today? Tagged or untagged? Is untagged as installed today still the best in terms of performance? Thanks a lot! Werner

Re: Nimble AF20 Best Practice Network 2021
Hi,
It is recommended not to use VLAN tagging unless the following conditions exist:
– The physical interface is required to support more than one VLAN or subnet (in this case, use native VLANs on the switch instead).
– Multiple subnets per physical interface will be needed in the future.
Please find the network best practices guide for Nimble deployment available at https://infosight.hpe.com/InfoSight/media/cms/active/public/HPE_Nimble_Storage_Deployment_Considerations_for_Networking.pdf
