I need to change the switchport mode of a configured mlag-port-channel from trunk to hybrid mode. The mlag itself uses 1 port from each of two SN2410M switches and uplinks to an HPE Comware switch.
Will I need to delete the mlag-port-channel before I can change the switchport mode or can I simply shutdown the mlag. change the switchport mode to hybrid, set the access and allowed vlans, and then no shut the mlag?

SolutionHi CadenLange
Changing the switchport mode of a configured MLAG port-channel from trunk to hybrid mode should not require deleting the MLAG port-channel itself. Instead, you can follow these general steps:
- Ensure that both switches are in sync with each other before making any configuration changes. This can be done by checking the MLAG status and verifying that both switches are active and connected.
- Shutdown the MLAG port-channel on both switches to ensure that there is no traffic flowing through it during the configuration change.
- Change the switchport mode of the MLAG port-channel on both switches from trunk to hybrid mode.
- Configure the access and allowed VLANs on the MLAG port-channel on both switches.
- Bring the MLAG port-channel back up on both switches and verify that it is operational and passing traffic.
It is important to note that any changes to the MLAG configuration should be carefully planned and tested before implementation, especially in a production environment. It is also recommended to have a backup plan in case any issues arise during the configuration change.
Hope this helps.!!
Regards
Mahesh.
