Nimble replication witness

Good day
Is really nessasary to deploy your Nimble witness appliance at a 3rd site if you are only replicating one way between 2 Nimble arrays?
I'm thinking it should be fine to just have the witness running at the target replication partner site.
Thanks

Re: Nimble replication witness

Hi CRD

My recommendation is to consider the witness appliance if you are concerned about maintaining availability in case of a site failure, and if you would like to have failover capability in case of a site failure. However, this is not typically a requirement since replication is only one-way.

Hope this helps.!!

Mahesh.

Re: Nimble replication witness

Hi Mahesh

Thank you for the feedback. Would still like to use the ASO funtionality of the wintess appliance so my thinking is to just run it at the target site as the replication is not bi-directional, but only one-way thus if the Primary array fails the ASO will handover the volume collections to the partner array.

Thank you

Re: Nimble replication witness

Hi CRD

Thank you for the clarification. This approach makes sense since the replication is one-way. Having the ASO installed on the target site will allow for a seamless handover of volume collections if the primary array fails. You may also contact the HPE Nimble tech support team if you need any additional support or further details to proceed with the setup.

Mahesh.
