Use 2nd CS1000 as a shelf for existing CS1000

Hello, I have what may be an odd question. REcently we purchased an HF40 Nimble to put in our production environment. Prior to this we had a CS1000 in production and one at our disaster recovery location. The new HF40 has considerably more capacity to it and we were wanting to buy some time prior to purchasing a matching  piece of hardware for our dr location. What we are wanting to do is add what was our production CS1000 as a shelf to the dr CS1000 that has been receiving all of our replicated data. I know this is something that HPE probably supports from a maintenance standpoint, but know that it most likely is doable. Is it as simple as plugging in to a SAS port and it'll recognize it as a shelf? Anyone have first hand experience doing this type of setup even as a short term solution? Thanks in advance for any advice you may have.

Hi jkoelker

Hope you are doing well.!!

You can merge two arrays rather.  you can merge multiple arrays, either into a multi-array group or into a multi-array pool.
if you prefer to add an existing shelf to DR then you need to follow hardware specifications The total number of shelves is bound not by a quantity but by the Max Cache and Max Capacity for the platform.

Refer to the appropriate platform matrix in infoSight.

Also, I would request you to refer to the below link:

Hope this helps.!!

Regards
Mahesh.
