Boot Image Secondary Flash - ProCurve Switch 2610-48
Hi,
I have a problem with my Procurve 2610-48 switch. Primary flash is older image whereas Secondary flash is newer image. I have enter "boot system flash secondary", save the config and reload the switch. The switch boot up with newer image.
However, why does my Procurve 2610-48 switch boot into the primary flash image after I lose power to the switch?
Thanks in advance.
Kenny

Re: Boot Image Secondary Flash - ProCurve Switch 2610-48
Hi there,
i am new to working with HP products.
i recently updated a hp switch from version r_11_30 to R_11_54.
is if possible to revert it back. to the old version i have tried copying the old os back to the switch but both the primary ands secondary Flash still report the same versions of r_11_54.swi
am i missing something out here can these switches not be down graded?
thanks in advance.

Re: Boot Image Secondary Flash - ProCurve Switch 2610-48
Hey All,
Old post but i felt like replying.
HP has the tendency to change command behavior betweens procurve switch models and firmware's
Currently a 2610-48 running firmware 11.107 will no longer accept the startup-default command to change default firmware to boot.
In fact i cant find any command to change the default firmware boot option.
Startup-default is now only a command to change the default configuration file to use for each firmware.
Reading trough the 2610 manual leeds me to believe its not possible to (permanantly) change the default firmware boot.
so in case of power failure primairy flash firmware will always be loaded.
A 2910-al with firmware K15.12.0015 now has 2 commands
again the startup-default for changing the configuration files to use.
and a new option in the boot command (for me) :
boot set-default flash primary/secondary
also the show flash commands give slightly different outputs which is very easy to miss:
for example.
show flash for 2610 will show the "current boot"
show flash for 2910 will show the "default-boot"
Yes it is not a problem to replace the newer firmware with older firmware.
I bet you already found a way to do that.
If not and still need to know, leave a message.
regards,
Ton
