Cannnot telnet to exchangeserver at the officenet

Hi,
Have problems to telnet to port 25 on my exchange2000 server at the office net, have no problems to telnet from the outside. There is no firewall inside the office net between the computers. Get server dropped connection. The port is listening.

Are you trying to connect using a NetBIOS name or by IP address?

Failure to connect can be caused by a failure to resolve your workstation name to an IP address by the telnet daemon.

It can also be caused by the method you authenticate (clear text, CHAP PAP, etc).

Hi,
I have tried both. I have the externl IP in the SMTP config, where you manage access rights, the internal IP isn??t the configured one, maby this could cause the problem?

Most likely. MS has a port testing tool that may help.

Re: Cannnot telnet to exchangeserver at the officenet

Is the SMTP service running? Try bouncing it (stop/start). Is the RPC service running?

What errors show on the server when you try to access port 25?

From the server, can you telnet to port 25?

Oh.... the other thing may be, that you are requiring integrated login, but for some reason are sending login info in clear text? As a test, try enabling clear text. Don't leave it that way though.
