DeskJet 1220c Network Problem

Hi,

My WindowsXP has a brutality delay when i try to contact with a 1220c printer shared using WindowsMe. My network is fine and I try to use another computer instead WindowsXP and it works fine too .. I update the drivers but doesnt seem to solve my problem and i dont know what to do ..

Can anyone help me ?

If you don't have a WINS server on your network you may be seeing a delay caused by it trying to find one. Try telling it to use LMHosts and create an LMHosts file with an ip and name for the Windows ME. See if that helps.

(Search for lmhosts.sam and create the lmhosts file in the same directory. If you make it in notepad save it as:
"lmhosts"
(with the quotes) or else it will stick on a .txt ext.

Go into Network Properties and remove all protocols except TCP/IP (unless you're confident you need them for some reason).

Sorry but all of those support did not work ..

I also have a Epson and Lexmark shared and the problem persists with the 3 printers ..

I beleave that is a WindowsXP problem. When I connect my laptop (WindowsME) instead the PC with the shared resources, the problem is solved .. I cannot understand this!

I also tryed to replace the network cards but without succes

One major difference between XP and ME is the lack of netbeui. You might try installing it:

I know you said your network is fine but have you really checked to make sure you do not have a duplex mismatch with the XP?

I have installed NetBEUI, NetBIOS and IPX (TCP too), but did not work .. I cannot understand and I already know that MS has a SP1 for XP (Beta) 110MB +/-

I connect my Laptop (WindowsME too) with that WinME wich have those printers and it works good!

When I use another OS instead XP, everything works fine .. This is happening with XP only !!!

MS finally admitted that it IS a problem in XP, and will fix it in SP1.

Sorry - didn't finish. Within the link MS is allowing you to download and install the compatibility update for XP to fix the problem.
