ML 350 G5 with Exchange2000, critical CPU error message
I have installed a Proliant server ML 350 G5 (dual core), 4 GB, with W2k advanced server and Exchange 2000 enterprise. After installed Exchange, the "monitoring" tab at Myserver (First administrative Groups / Server / MyServer / monitoring tab) we´ve got a "critical CPU error". This error is permanent, and indicate a CPU utilization of 98 ! How can I solve this error message ?
I need some help. Thanks, Luis Goncalves

Re: ML 350 G5 with Exchange2000, critical CPU error message
Task manager > Processes > View > Select Columns > CPU Usage, CPU Time, Mem Usage, Page Faults etc
Click on top of a column to sort by that column.
STORE.EXE is Exchange itself. Other things that could consume much CPU are things like Anti-virus (especially if you try to do realtime scanning of the Exchange log folder... remember to exclude that).
Other possible scenario with a new Exchange server is that already someone has discovered your (unsecured) SMTP server and is using it to relay spam mails...
Anyway start with the Task Manager and see where that leads you.
Cheers,
Rune

Re: ML 350 G5 with Exchange2000, critical CPU error message
I've checked task manager, however everything is normal - the cpu of server is consuming about 2-4 % and the memory consum is ok. I checked the antivirus too....and the overall configuration of Exchange is perfectly normal.
However, when I jump to monitoring tab at (Exchange server properties) the cpu is permanently at 98 % ! I can´t understand what is hapenning !
May be it happen some kind of relation between my Proliant ML 350 G5 dual core processor and the Exchange enterprise. Is there any patch ou fix from HP for this situation ? For now, it seems a bit strange.
Thanks
best regards,
Luis Goncalves

Re: ML 350 G5 with Exchange2000, critical CPU error message
What is your CPU threshold and Duration parameters in CPU Utilization of Monitoring ?
Probably duration is too small...

Re: ML 350 G5 with Exchange2000, critical CPU error message
I've changed parameters for monitoring.... however the results are the same ! For now these paremeters are:
CPU utilization thereshold:
duration: 20 minutes
warning state: 80%
critical state: 90%
current CPU utilization: 98 % !!!!!!!
I changed the duration to 5 minutes, 10 minutes......everything remains the same !
Please, who can help me !
thanks,
Luis

Re: ML 350 G5 with Exchange2000, critical CPU error message
I think it is just bug
You can see for example similar complaint here:
http://groups.google.co.il/group/microsoft.public.exchange.admin/m
sg/75c18815652dddcc?dmode=source
Exchange 2000 (and windows 2000 as well) are old Microsoft products, Microsoft will not fix bugs for old products
Therefore I suggest just turn off CPU monitoring from Exchange manager (delete CPU monitoring)
P.S. Since you are new on this forum read:
