Pavilion 7940 upgrade from ME to xp....modem worries
I checked out the site and tried everything and still says that my local conection is unplugged. I tried different drivers and reinstalled aol hoping that it might pick it up but no...I see that there is a real problem with the lucent Win modem....would it just be easier to get another internal or external modem...would that solve the problem...or does it go deeper than that. Every time I try to check the modem xp locks right up ...no sound from the modem. We I uninstall xp and go back to ME the modem works fine. I am on aol right now....is that a problem with xp...dave

HP says at
http://h20015.www2.hp.com/en/document.jhtml?lc=en&docName=bph07798&prodId=hppavilion9384&cc=gb
to use:
http://h20015.www2.hp.com/en/softwareDownloadIndex.jhtml?lc=en&softitem=pv-11109-1&sw_lang=en
for your Pavilion's XP Lucent WinModem. It corrects a problem similar to what you are experiencing.
