W2000 SBS - Performance problems

I have installed the above suite to a server with two 2.0GHz Xeon processors, 2GB RAM, scsi drives etc, and after a few hours of operation the CPU utilisation goes up tp 100% and free memory 29% (out of 2GB!!).

SQL is stopped... The only things running are, Exchange, RRAS, DNS, DHCP, IIS and IAS.

There are also about 25 clients connected...

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Control + Alt + Del and go to Processes. Which programs are eating the CPU time?

It wouldn't hurt to go to windowsupdate.microsoft.com and let them scan your system and offer updates. Might just be you need a patch.

Re: W2000 SBS - Performance problems

Thanks a lot Ron... To be honest I tried the windows update and it did find a lot of stuff that were required to download. I just have to wait for the weekend to reboot it I guess.

I just didn't think to check the Processes in the Task Manager...

Thanks again

Re: W2000 SBS - Performance problems

As an aside, it may be due to dodgy HP printer drivers / software for 2000. I don't think they've quite cracked win2k yet, can't think why, after all, it's been out for 3 years (but i'm not bitter).

Doubt it will be but wanted to have a snipe at HP ;)

Here's some other possibilities:

ISA:

Also, your ISA Server logs may be corrupted:
