Why do some folder/file names appear in blue, rather than black? I did several searches through MS database...no help.

Re: why do some folder/file names appear in blue, rather than black?

Hi Richard:

I believe a folder name in blue denotes a compressed folder. In My Computer, if you right click a drive and select Properties, at the lower left of the top tab should be a check box marked "Compress x:", where x is the drive letter. I think it only impacts NTFS drives.

Make a great day!

The blue means the folder/file is compressed.
You can see teh attribute C in the explorer
But this apears now perhaps becouse you changed the Tools->options of you explorer to display compressed files and folders with alternate color.

Blue is the standard color associated with compressed folders in many of the standard Microsoft folder views (My Computer, Windows Explorer, etc). If you select View -> Folder Options in any of these views there is a check box that causes this alternate color to appear. Also, tweakui allows you to change the color blue to something else.
