Adding VC Flex-10 profile to bay fails

Hi,

We have a lot of BL460c G1 servers with two onboard gigabit adapters (LOM1 and LOM2) and a Flex-10 adapter installed in mezz slot 2.
Our profile configuration says port 1 and port are connected to network 1, and MZ1:1a is connected to multiple vlans.

This all works perfectly.

Now i added two new G6 servers, loaded with one onboard Flex-10 adapter (LOM1/LOM2) and a Flex-10 adapter installed in mezz slot 2 (MZ2:1a and MZ2:2a)

The profile creation is a success when i set up:
Port1: Network 1 - LOM:1a
Port2: Network 1 - LOM:2a

But when i add the following the profile fails:
Port3: Multiple Networks - MZ2:1a

Anyone any idea whats going wrong? VC just pop-ups a message dialog saying "Failed" and a red X appears in front of the bay profile.

Regards,
Joris

Re: Adding VC Flex-10 profile to bay fails

Just some added info:
- I got the same thing when adding the profile to the second G6 server.

- When i add the multiple network to port 2(LOM:2a) i get no error.

It seems I get the configuration errors once i try to configure the flex-10 adapters in mezz slot 2 (connected to MZ2:1a)

It happens on both servers, so i guess no hardware failure.

Re: Adding VC Flex-10 profile to bay fails

Allright,

When i do the following it works:

Port1: LOM1: Network 1 Untagged
Port2: LOM2: Multiple Networks (vlans)

Correct me if i'm wrong but is it correct only the onboard Flex-10 adapter on this G6 server is in use with this configuration?

I always assumed the Onboard NIC has to be connected to LOM1 and LOM2, and the Flex-10 NIC in mezz slot 2 has to be connected to MZ2:1a and MZ2:2a.

Can anyone explain what's going on here?

Re: Adding VC Flex-10 profile to bay fails

Okay, i guess it's the following:

" Added support for the HP NC542m Dual Port Flex-10 10GbE BL-c Adapter."

I found this in the release notes for firmware 3.15 (flex-10 modules)

We still run on 2.32.... i guess i gotta update them..

Re: Adding VC Flex-10 profile to bay fails

keep in mind going to VC 3.15 also require OA firmware 3.21. And OA 3.21 put constraints on what ILO and system ROM need to be used

Re: Adding VC Flex-10 profile to bay fails

Hi Edwin,

I read this: Required - HP BladeSystem c-Class Onboard Administrator firmware version 3.11 or higher

found here:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=nl&prodTypeId=3709945&prodSeriesId=3794423&swItem=MTX-4b09af9718464265ad6530ad8c&prodNameId=3794431&swEnvOID=4040&swLang=13&taskId=135&mode=4&idx=1

Minimal version is 3.11, we run at OA 3.11 so no update should be needed i guess?
