BL460c Gen9 + D2220sb

Hi,

we think about buying some BL460c Gen9 + D2220sb Storage Blades.
For technical understanding - why is the Storage Controller within the Blade Server so important? What I read - is that the Storage Blade got it's own Controller - the P420i - so why does one need the P246br or the already integrated B140i within the Blade to get connection to the Storage Blade? Why won't work it with the P244br?!)

Which RAID Controller is in charge of the HDDs within the Storage Blade? The one within the Blade Server or the P420i within the Storage Blade?

Thought the Storage Blade in connected via PCI Lanes directly through the C7000 Backplane to the Blade ...

Hope someone can enlight me a bit here :)
