I would like to know if it is possible at all to run a Linux 32-bit on a BL460c Gen9 server.
I installed 2 linux 32-bit distros: Debian 8.0.0 and Ubuntu 12.04.5, and on both of them, linux detected only 1 CPU core (by inspecting the contents of "/proc/cpuinfo").
Whereas with linux 64-bit (Ubuntu 12.04.5 and Debian 8.0.0), linux can detect ALL of the CPU cores (I could see 2 CPU with a total of 48 cores).
I am wondering if there is a special kernel configuration that should be adjusted so that all CPU cores can be detected in 32-bit linux.
Many thanks in advance.

Re: BL460c Gen9 with Linux 32-bit: only one core CPU detected
Only 64 bit OS's are supported on Gen9. If you really must run a 32 bit OS, you can run it as a virtual machine.

SolutionHello,
I finally solved the puzzle.
I have to DISABLE these two options at the same time:
- ACPI SLIT Preferences
- x2APIC Support
Disabling only one option will *not* do the trick.
Hope this helps for others.

It may work, but it has not benn tested, nor is it supported by HP or any Linux distributions
