BL460c's hanging up

The BIOS versions are 04/01/08, 08/04/08 and 09/29/08. I should also mention that we have had this problem across 3 enclosures in 2 different physical sites.

I am running into the same problem. 2 c7000 chassis populated with BL460c-G1 blades. I just level set the latest BIOS and iLO firmware and I'm still getting the same problem across both chassis. Sometimes they reboot and other times they don't. What gives? I'm going to log a call with HP and see what they say.

Just out of curiosity, how is the power connected up on these blade enclosures?

I have a problem with a couple of enclosures that is similar to the problems your describing in this thread, except that the Health LED is flashing RED when it happens. The enclosures are connected to APC Managed power strips and I'm wondering if this could be causing a problem.

HP ProLiant iLO 2 Management Controller Driver Version 1.9.0.0 released in ProLiant Support Pack (PSP) Version 8.20 may prevent Microsoft Windows Server 2003 or Microsoft Windows Server 2008 from completing a shutdown or restart request. The shutdown or restart requests may halt at the final stages of shutdown even though other system components (such as the mouse) are still responsive.

Says to upgrade to 1.11 driver to fix problem. I however have had trouble with blue screens and ASRs on anything 1.9 or higher. I'm using 1.8 on all my blades with very few issues.

The blades we are having a problem with are tunning Linux. The PSP for Linux was updated and there is still an issue with it.

Our isue is manifesting itself in the same way, the red health light is flashing when this problem crops up (although it doesn't show as flashing on the Onboard Administrator web page). We are not using APC PDUs so I doubt this is a problem. In fact we are using the HP PDUs that shipped with our 2 c7000 chassis.

Just an update, I work with rvilat and after discussion with the HP engineer and upgrading to the latest BIOS/OA/iLO, we believe the issue is a communication sync between the OA and iLO when a command prompt restart is issued - so it's independant of the OS installed - we run SUSE on our 91 servers.

We're now running OA 2.41 and iLO 1.70. BIOS was upgraded to 2/11/08 and we've had no problems since. Worth a try.

I'm getting the same issue here,

OA 2.41
Ilo2 1.77
BIOS 2008.11.02

Doesn't happen every reboot, and a reseat does the trick. I've had the issue with the ILO2 Management driver noted here:

So I've downgraded the ilo2 driver and scheduled a reboot for last night which is when the issue occurred. Perhaps they're related so I'll keep an eye on it.

Problem should be solved with OA-Version 2.52. See HP-Advisory c01828885.

We've updated our 50 c7000 Enclosures to 2.52 an have no more Problems.

I am still having this problem and I am at OA 2.60 and ilo2 1.81.

Anyone else having this problem still and at a later version than noted in the post before mine as being the fix?

this problem just started for us in the past 2-3 months.  My OA is at 3.31 and the ILO on the blades is at 2.06, so our versions are pretty new (2.06 is the most recent ILO and 3.32 is the newest OA).  Not sure why this started happening out of the blue - I've had some of these blades for 3+ years.
