C3000 + SB40C Partner Device Required
Hello,
I've got a C3000 chassis with 4 BL40C G7 blades in it which are working fine running an ESXi test environment. I've added a SB40C Storage Blade and I am now getting the error in the OA 'Partner Device Required' (as per the attached pictures. I don't think I need to put two storage blades in.
Has anyone seen this error, how do I fix it?
Thanks for any replies.

Re: C3000 + SB40C Partner Device Required
follow the advise in screen shot 2 and reboot the server.
Hope this helps!

Re: C3000 + SB40C Partner Device Required
Hi Torsten,
Thanks for coming back to me. OK so what does it mean by a 'partner blade'? Do I need another SB40c to partner it - I thought they could work individually?
Thanks,
Howard

Re: C3000 + SB40C Partner Device Required
The storage blade needs a server as a partner in a special slot (see advise in your screenshot), then reboot the server to detect the storage.
from user guide:
• Install the SB40c in any device bay.
• If the SB40c is installed in an odd-numbered bay, install the partner server blade in the adjacent
even-numbered bay to the right.
• If the SB40c is installed in an even-numbered bay, install the partner server blade in the adjacent
odd-numbered bay to the left.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: C3000 + SB40C Partner Device Required
Hi,
Sorry for delayed reply, I've been waiting for another blade to arrive to partner with my SB40C. What threw me is the C3000 was saying install adjacent bay but my C3000 is racked rather than upright in it's own wheeled enclosure so when it said install to the left of the BL460C it actually meant below - When it's racked slot 4 is top left slot 8 top right when it's stood up slot 1 is top left and slot 4 top right.
Anyway, thanks I've sorted it now.
