C7k 1GB Ethernet Pass thru Module reports "internal degraded Status"

A 1GB Ethernet Pass-Thru Module is showing an error message "Device is reporting an internal degraded status".  It does not indicate what the degraded status is or mean.  The connections are working fine and there are no networking errors on the system. 

Has any seen this error and is it real?  Is there a way to drill down to an actual error condition?
