Changing SSH transmission speed on BL8x0c i2 blades - from console

I have various i2 blades and some have a very good, quick console transmission speed while others have something akin to 9600 baud.

Some years ago I stumbled across how to change this behavior but have now misplaced/lost the magic encantation.

Can someone provide the breadcrumbs?

Thanks!

Best,
Bill.

Re: Changing SSH transmission speed on BL8x0c i2 blades - from console

When working with Integrity blade servers and c7000 enclosures, it is very important to understand what type of I/O modules are in Bay1, Bay2, etc. (Virtual Connect ? Network Switches ? Pass-Thru module ? Speed of links/uplinks ?) and the mapping that is used between the VMS server NICs and the I/O module uplinks.

Please, share this information; only then we could understand where the potential problem is  (which could also be linked to the customer's network or some configuration in Virtual connect, and so  on).

The link never went anyplace for me...  But I was able to find the manual.  Does not lead to anything.  No reference as far as changing output speed on the blade console/MP/iLO.

Thanks.

Bill.

Maurizio, this is not OS specific or related.  It can be just the output from the UEFI.   For instance the SHELL listing out the storage map. It also does not appear to be related to version of interconnect hardware in the C7000 as I can have blades which printout their data very quickly in the same enclosue as ones which seem to be running at 9600 baud.  My recollection is that this is a blade configuration parameter.

I have played with the serial baud rate, note that we are talking about LAN access, not RS232 access, with no effect as I recall.

Thanks!

Bill.

Re: Changing SSH transmission speed on BL8x0c i2 blades - from console

Bill, I'm sorry only now I realize that the problem is related to the Management Processor of the Integrity blade.

try with the following procedure (choose L from the menu) :

MP MAIN MENU:

CO: Console
VFP: Virtual Front Panel
CM: Command Menu
CL: Console Log
SL: Show Event Logs
HE: Main Help Menu
X: Exit Connection

[dirac-ilo]</> hpiLO-> cm

[dirac-ilo] CM:hpiLO-> ca

CA

This command allows you to modify the local serial port configuration.

Local Serial Port Configuration Menu:
D - Display Local Serial Port Configuration
L - Modify Local Serial Port Configuration

Enter menu item or [Q] to Quit: d
d

Current Local Serial Port Configuration:
Bit Rate in bits/sec : 9600
Mode of Operation : iLO MP

Local Serial Port Configuration Menu:
D - Display Local Serial Port Configuration
L - Modify Local Serial Port Configuration

Enter menu item or [Q] to Quit:

(Use Ctrl-B to return to MP main menu.)

Possibly, try also to reset the MP :

[dirac-ilo] CM:hpiLO-> xd -R

I have previously tried changing the baud rate and reset but will try again when I get a chance.

Thanks.

If anyone else has some suggestion that would be most welcome.

Best,
Bill.

Can you give a try to below ones:

- Restart the blade and enter the BIOS/UEFI setup (usually by pressing a key like F2, F10, or DEL during startup).

- Look for settings related to the serial port or console redirection.

- Change the baud rate to your desired speed (e.g., 115200 instead of 9600).

I hope it helps.
