Corrupt/missing server and iLO serial numbers on BL480c
I have a BL480c G1 server whose system and iLO serial numbers, as well as the system product number seem to be missing or corrupt when viewed in Systems Management Homepage or in the iLO console.
This is what SMH shows:
Under Management Processor ->Integrated Lights-Out 2:
Serial Number: ILO¯‹þ½¹Ý Ë;~ݘYq
Under System ->System Info, the serial # and product ID are blank.
And in the iLO console summary screen:
UUID: >>not present<<
Server Serial Number / Product ID: ;~Yq /
Our other BL480c's show valid data here for all of these values.
I've never run into this before...it doesn't seem to be interfering with the server's operation, and both the BladeSystem's OA and HP SIM are able to manage the server OK. It's just an oddity I'd like to clear up if possible. Would appreciate any suggestions or insight.
Thanks,
Dan

Re: Corrupt/missing server and iLO serial numbers on BL480c
ProLiant servers have an electronic serial number in the BIOS which can be edited using the ROM-Based Setup Utility, [F9] during system boot. You should correct this as soon as possible.

Re: Corrupt/missing server and iLO serial numbers on BL480c
Ok, I will check it out the next time I have a window to reboot that server. The server actually shipped this way; was this probably just a factory defect when the serial information was flashed into the BIOS? Could it imply some other deeper problem that I may want to have serviced?
