Create Virtual Connect Network with 4 x VC-Enet
Hello guys,
i have one question about my VC Network Configuration.
i have defined for my VMware enviroment a vc network (Produktion). These network contains 4 uplink ports, one from any vc net module.
is that ok ?? does my vmware network use all 4 uplink ports aktive or only as failover ??
I have read the VC cookbook but i find not the right answer for my question ...
i hope somebody can help me to understand.
thanks a lot
regards
chris

Re: Create Virtual Connect Network with 4 x VC-Enet
As far as I know ... if you have these uplink from 4 different VC modules then one is active and the rest standby.
If however you have 4 NICs from one VC module then you can trunk them as a 4GB trunk.
Look for the following comment in the cookbook
VC ONLY supports dynamically formed link aggregations using the IEEE 802.3ad LACP protocol. The Virtual Connect â Connection Modeâ for a given Virtual Connect network must be set to â Autoâ for Virtual Connect to use LACP to dynamically create a link aggregation/channel. Recommended command â channel-group X mode activeâ

Re: Create Virtual Connect Network with 4 x VC-Enet
Hello,
thanks for postings.
one additionaö question, i have saw that the vc interconnect modules are not stacked together as shown in every whitepaper or cookbook. Can i use the modules anyway or must i stack the modules ???
Thanks
