GbE2c Ethernet Blade Switch replacement.

Dear Team,

I need to replace a failed switch but I am not fully clear about how to save the current switch configuration to be recovered on the new one? What the basic steps would be?

Thanks in advance,

- Andres.

Re: GbE2c Ethernet Blade Switch replacement.

Okay folks, here it goes the basics:

  1. Setup a TFTP server where to save your switch configuration. Talk to your comm people.
  2. Log into the current switch either using the DB9 (RS232) port or via a web browser (http)
  3. Navigate the menus and save the config using the 'ptcfg <host name or IP address of FTP/TFTP server> <filename on host>' command.
  4. Physically replace the switch following the proper procedure.
  5. Once replaced recover the configuration using the 'gtcfg <host name or IP address of FTP/TFTP server> <filename on host>' command
  6. Make sure the newly installed switch will keep the loaded config after a reboot or power cycle by entering the 'save' command.
