HPE ProLiant 460c Gen - SAN-Boot
Hello All,
We are running a VMware farm for one of our european major accounts.
We use 233 ESXi Servers based on VMware 6.5.
24 Systems are Synergy Server and 140 are Blade systems.
All these systems are booting from an SD-Card.
As we do not want to bay 328 HDDS the opnly way is to boot from, because we need to upgrade to VMware 7.0 and this does support boot from SD.
All system have an dedicated FC-Mezzanine-Cards..
However right now I do neither see them in the boot sequence nor can I access the bios of these cards to enter the boot lun.
For that reason I am not able to boot from SAN.
How can I achive this?
Or can't I boot from Mezzanine.
Any feedback is welcome.
By the way all firmeware and BIOS are on the latest available levle.
Regards
Eugen

Re: HPE ProLiant 460c Gen - SAN-Boot
So far I was not able to get it working at all.
Most of the procedures described in the documents are not available in Blade BIOS.
Is it possible to boot from the Mezzanine-Card?
I found a lot of ducuments describing howto boot from LOM, but nothing related to mezzanine cards.
On the other side I have not something about not to be able to boot from mezzanine.
Regards
Eugen

Re: HPE ProLiant 460c Gen - SAN-Boot
Hello Eugen,
You should be able to achieve boot from SAN from FC Mezannine HBA's.
However the boot from SAN functionality should be enabled from the card BIOS settings.
You may refer to the below documents for more information
https://techlibrary.hpe.com/docs/enterprise/servers/icsp/webhelp/content/s_osdbuildplan_how_SANboot.html

Thanks,
TAM
