iLO Remote Console Issue

Hey Guys.. I have a c7000 with four g7 blades. iLO works great with the exception of the remote console on two of the blades.

Bay 1 - IRC works (java and .net)

Bay 2 - IRC works (java and .net)

Bay 9 - IRC times out (java and .net)

Bay 10 - IRC times out (java and .net)

I don't get it. All four blades are on the same iLO network (EBIPA) and have the same FW rev. Ideas?

Re: iLO Remote Console Issue

Hi,

You may refer the below 2 advisory links, which might help in fixing the issue:

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=c03094418

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=c03096258

To prevent an unresponsive keyboard after the Remote Console timeout, you upgrade the Integrated Lights-Out Firmware.

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DriverDownload.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=4154847&taskId=135&prodTypeId=18964&prodSeriesId=4154735&lang=en&cc=us

To restart the Remote Console session and regain access to the keyboard, shut down and then reboot the server.

After upgrading the iLO firmware, perform the following steps:

  1. Shut down the server.
  2. After a short amount of time (30-60 seconds) restart the server.

If the issue is not fixed, please provide the Server Model and exact error message you are getting when trying to access IRC.

Also provide the showll.txt report.

Regards,

Renji

Re: iLO Remote Console Issue

Also you may also try below steps:

1. Get version 1.26 of firmware. It does not solve the problem but it makes it less frequent.

2. On first login create at least one other user account.

3. In Administration/Access setting screen set "Idle connection Timeout drop-down list to "Indefinite"

4. Go to the Administration/Network tab and click apply. For some reason I think previous setting is activated only on reboot of ILO while new user setting does not require reboot.

5. Logout explicitly as you finished using ILO.

6. Additional recommended settings:

  1. Idle connection timeout (minutes) -- infinite
  2. Require Login for iLO RBSU -- Disabled.
  3. Serial Command Line Interface Status - Enabled - No Authentication

Re: iLO Remote Console Issue

I am already using the 1.26 firmware. And changing these settings did not make a difference

  1. Idle connection timeout (minutes) -- infinite
  2. Require Login for iLO RBSU -- Disabled.
  3. Serial Command Line Interface Status - Enabled - No Authentication
