Long shot... 10G DAC in a 1G port?
Keenan had a customer question:
*************
Onsite with a customer, they ordered 10Gig DAC cables (HP X240’s) to plug in their Virtual Connect Flex-10 modules… but the other end is an HP J4904A gigabit switch. It has SFP ports, but only at 1Gig. Is it possible to make that DAC work at 1Gig? We are pursuing other options because I don’t think this is possible but thought I’d ask just in case…
************
Input from Mark:
***************
Not possible.
**************
That's the way they are designed and the frequency of the device is not alterable.
