Management cards dying when inserting new blade
We have a C7000 which had in it two management cards. The other day I had the portal up, configured and IP for the port that I was going to insert a BL460c Gen9 into it. I inserted the server and the management portal showed that it was seeing a new device. A few seconds later the management cards went unresponsive. Both cards were instantly dead. I tried reseating them, resetting them etc. and nothing. I put in a spare card and lt up instantly. What would cause both management servers to just go dead like that?

Re: Management cards dying when inserting new blade
Hi @DovidB ,
Here is some light on your issue.
Issue 1: May be the power supply is insuffecient.
Solution: Observe the fan speed, power supply utilization in OA console, take necessary action if adding or replacing power supply is required.
Issue 2: Installed blade server is with latest firmware and Management cards with lower firmware
Solution: Remove the blade server, update the firmware of OA, VC and other components of the chassis.
Issue 3: A Server or Management card might be a legacy version and mismatching the chassis configuration.
Solution: Please scrap if any old model hardwares which won't support with newer model of other devices.
Issue 4: Other servers or components may causing an issue.
Solution: Remove all the additional components such as Interconnects, server blades etc. for an instance and run with minimal configuration with new blade.
It should be tested only after updating the firmwares of chassis components.
If any one of these solutions answers you, please mark this as 'Accepted solution' and give 'Kudos' as a tokan of appreciation.
Regards,
Shiva_JR

Re: Management cards dying when inserting new blade
@shiva_jr Would a mismatch in firmware cause both management cards to simply die?
