NIC Teaming on BL460 with Mezz Card

Hi

We have a C3000 enclosure with 2 x Cisco 3020 switches in slots 1 and 2. We have a BL460c with 2 x on board NICs and a further 2 x NICs via a mezz card. The 2 x on board NICs connect to the switch in slot A and the 2 x Mezz NICs connect to the switch in Slot B.

Is the following possible ?

Create a load balanced team using the NICs connected to the switch in SLot A - Let's call this Team A

Create a second load balanced team using the NICs connected to the switch in Slot B -Let's call this Team B

Finally, create a fail-over team between Team A and Team B

Thanks

Re: NIC Teaming on BL460 with Mezz Card

That wont be posible, if you were using 3120s stacking capable switches, you should be able to create a single team using all the NICs. There are several options of teaming for this config:

- You can team 4 NICs, 2 mapped to each switch, use TLB team mode, this way you will get 4Gb TX and 1Gb RX, no switch config needed.

- Create 2 teams, 2 NICs each, going to the same switch, on the switch you can configure an static channel for SLB Mode (Channel group mode on) or LACP for the 802.3ad Team (Mode active), this way you will get 2 teams, 2GB TX and RX each

- There another teamo mode, is not a well known mode but it should work, you must configure a 2 Ports LACP Channel on each switch, then create a 4 NICs team, 2 NICs to each switch, leave the mode on automatic on the NCU, you should get 4Gb Tx and 2Gb Rx, thats the best you can get.
