Non disruptive removal of uplink sets from C7000 virtual connect
Good morning all.
I currentlly have 2 C7000 chassis that have 2 incorrect uplink sets configured on interface3 X3 of the dual HP VC Flex-10 Enet Module interconnects in Bay 1 & 2 of the enclosures.
I would like to remove the inocrrect uplink sets in a non disruptive way as the blades in the chassis are critical production servers.
What would be the best way to do this?
The uplinks are seperate from the production interfaces which are teamed on interface x1 & x2.

Re: Non disruptive removal of uplink sets from C7000 virtual connect
Hi Andrew,
Since your production traffic uses X1 & X2, and the incorrect uplink sets on X3 are not carrying production traffic:
Confirm no mappings/associations: In Virtual Connect Manager, check that no server profiles or networks are assigned to the incorrect uplink sets on X3. Ensure no active network traffic is mapped via these uplink sets.
Unassign uplink ports: Edit the uplink set in VC Manager. Remove X3 from the uplink set (edit uplink set → uncheck X3 port). Apply changes — this should not impact other interfaces.
Delete uplink set: Once X3 is unassigned from the uplink set and confirmed unused, delete the uplink set entirely if it’s no longer needed.
Monitor: Watch Virtual Connect status and server network connectivity carefully during and after the change. Consider making the change during a maintenance window if there’s any uncertainty about uplink associations.
Even if X3 is not part of the production team, double-check server profile connections and Virtual Connect mappings before removing the uplink sets.
If possible, capture a config backup of the Virtual Connect domain before making changes (via Virtual Connect Support Utility or VCM).
