Hi All,
One blade in enclosure-1 is shown Management Processor: Error . Mention that this sytem is Superdome-2 and has 2 Enclosure and complex firmware version is 3.8.0
Now enclosure is functiong with live production. Here reported blade is under nPar partition.
Already I have run on OA at online by command : RESET iLO 2 but don't execute because firmware version is not supported.
So if we reset the blade by command RESET BLADE 2, we must down all os and nPar but we can't do that.
So if I reset OA as bellow process , it oly reset OA ilO and blade iLO OR reboot OS including network ??
Select -->Enclosure -->Active Onboard Administrator -->Virtual Button --->>>reset
Please need opinoin from expert end.

Re: OA reset for MP log clear
Schedule a downtime and update the firmware to solve and prevent such problems.
Reseting the OA won't help you.
Your firmware is already from 2014!

Fixes in Complex Firmware 4.1.34:
iLO watchdog timer has been enabled which can reset and recover iLO in certain cases when the iLO crashes or gets into a hung state.
Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: OA reset for MP log clear
Hi,
Yes, reset ILO command was added in FW verison 4.0.4 and later.
Restarting OA is not going to help recovering the ILO.
So as suggested by other members, go ahead and plan for FW update.
If this is going to take time and you want to recover ILO, then log a support ticket with HPE and we can reset the ILO from OA diag shell.
Thanks and Regards.

Re: OA reset for MP log clear
Hi HPE Pro,
A case was generated by HPE partner engineer. (HPE Support Case ID: 5344694868).
From HPE end , recommend that it needs to reset iLO of that blade but it was not possible due to firmware version issue.
Finally he recommends that it needs to reset blade but this blade is assigned on some vPar OS.
So we need to shutdown all vPar OS which is on production.
But as per your message , we can reset the ILO from OA diag shell by HPE backline. But HPE hadn't mention this.
If reset by OA diag shell, will it reboot server/OS, pls confirm.
Here mention that all HPE SD-2 complex firmware version is 3.8.0 . We should update all but all system is in production and running banking service. So it's tough to do.

SolutionHi Ashraf,
No, inside OA diag shell, we have option to reset the ILO of a blade.
It will not reset / reboot the OS.
I verified the HPE case and it looks closed.
To Enter OA diag shell, we need password that is restricted only to HPE support.
Thanks and Regards,
Sathiya

Re: OA reset for MP log clear
Resetting ILO is not disruptive, the OS will continue to run.
However, you cannot do this because you cannot get into the diag shell.
I strongly recommend to get a downtime and update the firmware.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
