Proliant BL460c G1 - Array ready for Rebuild after replacing HDD
Hi All,
Got a weird one here, I have an old BL460c G1 which had a faulty 146GB HDD (418399-001) in Slot 1 as part of a RAID 1 array. I replaced the 146GB HDD with a 300GB HDD (507284-001) which according to HP Part Surfer is the functional equivalent as we can no longer get new 418399-001, we had some 507284-001 in our store, so I replaced it, it looked to me that it started to rebuild, but it actually isn't. See the message below which shows both drives are okay, but that the array is READY FOR REBUILD rather than rebuilding which is should have started automatically
HP Array Configuration Utility CLI 9.40.12.0
Detecting Controllers...Done.
Type "help" for a list of supported commands.
Type "exit" to close the console.

Smart Array E200i in Slot 0 (Embedded)
array A (SAS, Unused Space: 0 MB)
logicaldrive 1 (136.7 GB, RAID 1, Ready for Rebuild)
physicaldrive 1I:1:1 (port 1I:box 1:bay 1, SAS, 300 GB, OK)
physicaldrive 1I:1:2 (port 1I:box 1:bay 2, SAS, 146 GB, OK)
I replaced the HDD again with another 507284-001 and its exactly the same. I have ordered a refurbished 418399-001 to see if that makes any difference but I am not holding my breath
Anyone have any thoughts or guidance would be please?
Regards
John

Re: Proliant BL460c G1 - Array ready for Rebuild after replacing HDD
Greetings!
Firstly, ensure you have a valid data backup. Also, verify that the other drive (146GB) in the RAID does not have any media errors.
Yes, if the FE part is available, you can use a 300GB HDD instead of the 146GB one.
Since the rebuilding process is not initiating, please confirm that the E200 is operating with the latest firmware and driver revisions. If not, update them, reboot the server reseat the drive, and assess the outcome.
