SB40C storage blade

I am looking to purchase a SB40c storage blade but have a question on it.

I currently have a BL480 server blade with 4 drives and a raid 5 configuration that is getting lose to full. Can I add the storage blade to extend the configuration on my bl480 server blade? Can I take one drive from the storage blade and add it to the server blade and make it a 5 drive configuration?

Re: SB40C storage blade

Hi,
No, You can't use the storage blades disks to expand servers local disks. Storage blade has it's own p400 controller onboard.

And because You have BL480c

HP PCI Express Mezzanine pass-thru card for HP BladeSystem 431643-B21
NOTE: Required to support the HP StorageWorks SB40c Storage Blade (P/N
411243-B21) with HP c-Class BladeSystem full-height server blades

NO it is not possible since SB40c has inbuilt
HP Smart Array P400 Controller.
