Using a USB hub without SUV cables.

I have a client who would like to use the OA modules USB port to connect a USB hub, then would like to add USB devices (HDD's, optical drives, etc) behind the hub which can either be accessed by all blades, or mapped to specific ones.

Apparently they have had a bunch of technicians as well as their HP rep tell them it is possible to do this, thereby eliminating the need for the front SUV cables per blade.

I thought the answer was no until they mentioned an HP rep told them they could, anyone know if this is possible?

I've mapped a DVD drive often.
Not sure if more than one is supported.
What do they want to put on the hdd, ISO images or data?

Re: Using a USB hub without SUV cables.

I am pretty sure they are trying to mount data drives, not just images.

By the sounds of it they want to be able to add any devices like you would on a regular USB port. However, from everything I have read, only optical media is supported.

But when I relayed this information, they informed me HP had told them otherwise when they bought the chassis.
