Virtual Connect (VC) Flex-10 Firmware Upgrade from 3.18 > 3.60 Failed

Massimo had a Virtual Connect Support Utility (VCSU) question:

I have a customer which tried to upgrade with VCSU 1.6 the VC-Flex10 from FW V3.18 to FW V3.60 and it failed twice.Then i have it done the same in my Lab, with the same result, that only one Module was successful updated to 3.60 and the other one was still on 3.18.

It works, on my VC-Infrastructure and also at the customer one, if we upgrade from FW V3.18 to V3.51 and then to V3.60 !

Is this a known Issue ?

So the logs show something different. 1 Log shows it didn’t complete because Checkpoint never became valid.

The 2nd log shows it was successful. (SEE BELOW)

The VC Support Dump is the only thing that will tell us “why” it failed to complete the checkpoint.

If they have removed modules and reseated them, the necessary logs are gone, don’t bother capturing them.

From the logs they provided (VCSU), all I can comment on is that is expected behavior to NOT Activate the Primary until the Backup module is Activated and checkpoint is Valid.

The timeout is 60 minutes, it hit the timeout and VCSU aborted the update / activate process.

If we are going to have to get to the bottom of this, they have to provide VC Support Dumps from the time it was failing. (i.e right after firmware update aborted.)
