Reference architecture for C-class blades usign EMC
Hi, I am looking at a POC for Oracle RAC on C-class blades with EMC storage. Does anyone have any technical information such as a reference architecture for this configuration? It doesn't need to include the Oracle component, but that would help as well. We are planning to use the 10Ge capabilities on the blade server interconnects as well.

I know that HP has a lot of reference material on RAC with 1G Ethernet and Infiniband. I may be able to help with the 10G solution. Will you be using 10G for the RAC interconnects or production interfaces? Please give me a call. Thanks, Glenn Church Sales Network Architect (SNA), US Central and West Coast. Reference architecture for C-class blades usign EMC
Hi Glenn, Thanks for the response. We are looking at possibly 10G for the interconnects. I have some more information, so it is a little more clear now what we are looking at. One question I have is for the VC vs. Passtrhough regarding the network connections. We are concerned that the limit on the switches to the public network is 4GB when using the VC, so we may be using pass-thru instead. Is it possible to configure a solution where we can avoid the limit while using the VC? (We are not planning to use Infiniband) [Updated on 4/4/2008 7:36 AM]

I'm not sure on the VC configuration; our Company Blade Network Technologies builds the HP branded c-Class switches for HP. GbE2c and GbE2c L2/L3 HP 1:10 Ethernet BL-c Switch HP 10Gb Ethernet BL-c Switch We build the only all 10Gb switch for the c-Class. IF you decide to use 10Gb for the RAC interconnects, I have a close relationship with all of the 10Gb NIC vendors supported in the c-Class. Thanks, Glenn Church
