Re: end of support for hardware and software
For 9000 servers, the issue was not when the support ends, but the cost effectiveness of maintaining tghe older machines. The cost to keep our k-class machines ended up being less than buying brand new servers. We ended up replacing most of our older equipment over the past year and a half. (We still have some apps hanging on to HPUX 10.20 on a couple k-class machines, but we are constantly reminding end users about the $50 per day maintainence cost... Every year you hang on to old equipment with maintainence, expect to pay more and more for it.
