Cisco Aironet 1200 Series AP and EAP/TLS User Authentication

Hi,
I am having Cisco Aironet 1200 Series AP's
model No. 1230.

I am also having Cisco ACS server running
for my cisco devices.

I want to configure my AP's for security
so that when the users turn on their
laptop (Wireless enable) then my AP's
should authenticate them using user name
and password, Using my Cisco ACS Server.

Please tell me any documents for the same
I had gone through with few on the cisco
site but none of them talks about Aironet
1200 Series.

Thanks,
Amit

Re: Cisco Aironet 1200 Series AP and EAP/TLS User Authentication

First off... EAP-TLS does not use passwords to authenticate the user, it uses digital certificates. To make it work you would need a certificate authority in your network that would manage handing out certs to all of your clients. You can re-use your user account/password infrastructure if you use LEAP or EAP-PEAP.

The method to setup 802.1x authentication is the same on the 500, 1100, 1200 APs. There is a difference between how it is done in the VxWorks based image versus the IOS based image. Looked in the documentation about how to setup 802.1x/RADIUS parameters of the AP for the image you have.

Hi,
Can anyone tell me how to configure EAP or
PEAP using both Cisco ACS server and Linux
server acting as Authentication servers.

Thanks,
Amit.
