CP 2W problem

I have a wireless home network with that share a fast internet connection. I can browse the internet at blazing speeds for about 1-2 minutes and then it slows down big times... I always have to reboot my CP2W in order to speed it up again... If I connect one of my computers directly via ethernet I can browse just fine all day... but I need to go wireless... I tried enabling/disabling WEP as well as reserving IP's everything but all that happens is that I get fast browsing for 1-2 (sometimes 5 mins) and then slow browsing...

Even with my desktop with is never repositioned... I have a small apartment and always get full range indicated on the meter

help please

Re: CP 2W problem

Try updating the firmware first.

It can be found at ftp://ftp.compaq.com/pub/softpaq/sp23001-23500/SP23456.exe

Also, should you still experience the slowdown after updating the firmware, try changing the channel(s) the CP-2W is using, in the admin panel.

Good luck.

Re: CP 2W problem

Hi Dan,

I did update the firmware and I changed from channel 11 to channel 1 but I still get the slowdown after a few minutes of browsing

Any else I should do?

Thanks

Re: CP 2W problem

Emilio:

Try the Compaq iPAQ Broadband Optimizer for Windows
from the following web page: http://www29.compaq.com/falco/sp_result.asp?Model=3573&Os=0

Hope this helps!

Re: CP 2W problem

still no luck :(

I installed the optimizer and selected speed-up, rebooted my computer and the CP2W but my connection still became very slow after a couple of minutes of browsing

I only have my desktop running and it feels like I'm at schools with thousands of people browsing at the same time....

Could it be something to do with security...

Maybe my computer's do not fully trust my router... what can it be?

Re: CP 2W problem

Emilio:

Try going to http://www.pcpitstop.com
and run a PC TuneUp to see if uncovers any obvious performance=related problems. Also, try http://www.dslreports.com/tools and select Speed Tests from the list on the left.

Hope this helps!

Re: CP 2W problem

OK I went to both sites the pctoolkit gave me a good rateing except for labeling my hard.... I got a 750kb download (upload not test).... the other site gave me a 702kb download and a 216kb upload....

I have noticed the if a browse to one domain it is slow once there it is much faster.... but as soon as I navigate to a different to it slows down (big time) but once there it is fast again

Could it have something to do with security as it goes from one domain to the next

Thanks in advance
Emilio
