DV9700 Wireless connection problems (local only)

Ok to sum it up in a few points...

HP DV9700 with working wireless.. None of this disappearing when waking up from standby.

Only it doesn't work all the time. After an hour or so connected with wireless or with a cable to my virgin broadband the connection goes and instead of the 2 screens and a globe icon in my task bar im left with just 2 screens and a local only description.

After i turn the wireless on and off again with the switch on the front of my laptop it works fine.. For a few hours.. Then i have to do it all over again.

Just wondered if anyone has seen this problem before.

(oh and other laptops in the house connected wirelessly to the router don't have this problem)

Thanks for any help.

Mike.

I am having this same problem. Mine will cycle from full internet access, to local only, then after a few minutes completely disconnect.
I have another laptop in the house and am not having the same problem with that laptop.
What kind of router are you using? Mine is an Linksys 802.11b (BEFW11S4). I'm wondering if updating my router to 802.11n or 802.11g will make a difference.

Re: DV9700 Wireless connection problems (local only)

Well the house has Virgin Broadband which is sent out into a cable router with a ports going out to a handful of rooms in the house, then into a wireless Dlink 301 which about 4 people are connected to wirelessly and cabled. Then in the basement is a house mates 'project' which is a linux machine connected to the wireless router using the same linksys router that you have.

Maybe that is the problem.

Time to cut his 'project' short and to do one of my own.

I'll reply back if it works.
