Evo N410C and W200 wireless card

I have a Evo N410C, W200 wireless adapter (the type that fits on the lid of the laptop), and Windows XP Professional.

The wireless card does not reinitialize when the laptop resumes from Standby mode. This is 100% repeatable.

Any ideas?

Hello, I have a Evo N610C model and the same thing happens to me, while resuming from a hibernate "sometimes" does not reinitilizes as well. Have you figured out a way to fix it?

Re: Evo N410C and W200 wireless card

Two suggestions:
1) Try to find updated drivers for the USB controller on the 610c

2) What I do...I turn the device off before I go into standby...USB devices on USB controllers have a history of problems in XP and Win2K going to into and out of standby.... then I turn it back on after the resume.

Re: Evo N410C and W200 wireless card

I found a new driver for the Wireless Lan Multiport W200, SP27295 and downloaded. Ran the wizard, but it didn't even gave me a chance to stop the installation, it simply installed the new driver and client manager.

Since the installation, I'm unable to turn the Wireless Card on. I've tried all sorts of things, even uninstalled everything, removed the card and started all over with the original CD, but I have given up. The SW and driver is installed, but the card is no recognized when installed. When I press Fn-F2, I can hear a sound, but nothing happens, and under Devide Manager, there is no Wireless Network Adapter anymore.

I'm trying to find a USB Controller driver but can't seem to find it. Can someone point me to where to find it. I have a Evo N610C running XP SP1.

Any clues will be greatly appreciated.

Re: Evo N410C and W200 wireless card

Philip, thanks for the hints. I have reinserted the module back in and apparently it is now correctly connected.

While trying to find the driver for my Multiport WIFI module, I found a couple of options, to which I'm not sure which one to use. I managed to call HP's tech support and the guy confirmed that in my case I shold use the first option, since I have the Multiport, where is if I'd had the internal W200 module I would use the second option. I tried telling him that my Multiport has "Wireless Lan W200" printed on it's side, but that didn't seem to change his opinion. Below are the 2 drivers mentioned above.

Fernando

Re: Evo N410C and W200 wireless card

The Tech support person has incorrect information, you are correct.

Two WLAN MultiPort options were created, the first used an Intersil Prism WLAN chipset and had "Wireless LAN" silkscreened on the side; the second used a Agere Hermes WLAN chipset and had "Wireless LAN W200" silkscreened on the side.

So if you have W200 silkscreen on the side, use the driver/software that has W200 it is title.

I have a similar soiunding issue with my N610c and have had trouble updating the UDB drivers. They are all several years old

Is there a foolproof how-to on that (USB driver update) for the N410C

Am on XP SP1 and thought I had installed the USB 2.0 updarte for SP1

Re: Evo N410C and W200 wireless card

Got the info to do the following from HP and it now works after deleting the USB devices and letting them get reinstalled.

Not sure that the drivers are the latest.
