how to remove bluetooth icon from the desktop

I have a nc6000 laptop with internal bluetooth adapter. I've installed the hp provided BT software and it put an icon on my desktop.
How can I remove this icon? I don't need it.

i'm not shure if i understand your question, but if u want to dele a desktop icon, just select the icon and delete it, a icon it's just a pointing switch to the real program, u can create or delete as many as u want, without doing any damage.

An ICON is not a program. It is nothing more than a link to a program. Try right clicking on the ICON you want deleted, then left click on DELETE. It will ask you if you are sure you want to do this and say yes.

Only if a ICON is read only it will not let you delete it. If this is the case, then right click the ICON, left click PROPERTIES then uncheck the read only box. Apply the new settings. Then right click the ICON again, left click DELETE and it should go away after you acknowledge the are you sure question....

Points are a way of saying thank you to the person that has helped you with your problem.

I'm pretty sure you don't know what I telling about.
The bluetooth software place an icon named "My Bluetooth Places" on the desktop. It is _not_ a shortcut. When I select it and press nothing happen. When I click right on it and got a menu, it has _no_ "Delete" line.
I've checked the bluetooth software's preferences but i haven't found any solution to remove this icon.

Even if it is a folder of some kind it can be deleted. Somehow they may have protected it with a type of "read only" marking.

Bluetooth is owned by Microsoft so if anyone would know how to lock something up, they would.

there are no "properties" to it?

you might be able to go in via the DOS command line and use the ATTRIB command on it to see what it is.

OK Saabi,

Looks like this is a common complaint...


see for a fix:


To Remove the "My Bluetooth Places" icon from desktop, simply right click on desktop and then go to properties/desktop/customize desktop/clean desktop now. Then tick the box: "My Bluetooth Places" and press next. The icon should then be in a folder called unused desktop items on your desktop. You can then delete the folder if you wish to.
