HP 7965 - Network hardware not working

I bought a HP 7965 from a friend and recently the network connection stopped working. I have a second old PC that I am able to connect to the internet on the same cable, so I know the cable and router are working. The HP 7965 has a hard-wired network cable port - it's not a separate card.
I tried to install a network card form an older computer, one labelled WS-R453, in the only open port in the 7965, but I was unable to get the computer to recognize that card even after opening Control Panel/Add Hardware.
Is it possible to install a second network card and get the 7965 to connect to the Internet thru that secondary card or is this a problem for which I need a repair shop?
And help or direction to other information will be greatly appreciated.
Chris

Hi Chris

Yes, it is possible. You must get info about that second card (brand, model) and download the drivers for it. Your OS will recognize it after that. As long as the cable is connected to that second card it will get an IP address and it will connect to Internet thru it.
