Internet connection problem

My HP Pavilion dv9700 laptop is connected to a wireless network, but will not connect to the internet itself(i'm typing this via another computer).

The wireless is turned on, i've tried reconnecting, restarting, i even did a ful system restore, but i can't get the internet to connect.

I'm getting good signal, and all that, i can't figure out what else to do.

Re: Internet connection problem

Your info is very brief.

check if you can reach other (local) hosts connected to the network.
check if the connected netwerk allow trafic from wireless to internet.
if a proxy server is used maybe this does not allow the wireless adresses.

Re: Internet connection problem

Hi David

You can start by doing all basic tests. Open a command prompt and type ipconfig to check the IP address and default gateway. Then try to ping the default gateway to see if you get answers. Perhaps your laptop is not beeing associated with the wireless network - is it an open network or do you have to type an WEP or WPA key?
Furthermore, if the wireless network connect to internet by an ISA Server (for example), you might have to install and start an ISA client.

Good luck
