Let's all work together to make HP do what's right about the Notebook Wireless Problems!!!

I bought a HP Pavilion dv6338se 5 months ago and first it failed to find the DVD player about 3 weeks ago and the HP online chat helped me with the problem. Then I noticed that sometimes my wireless networking would just stop and I would have to just reboot, then of course it went out completely and I couldn't find it in my device manager. I tried system recovery (complete with losing EVERYTHING) (sorry about the screaming), taking out the wireless card and reseating it, replacing the wireless card, flashing the BIOS, installing new drivers, and I did all of these things over and over thanks to stoopid HP techs that think that if you try it one more time it will be magic. Now they want me to send my computer to them for 4 weeks and that's not an idea that I am fond of. In order to get them to send me a new wireless card I had to email Mark Hurd HP's CEO and threaten to contact Better Business Bureau. I suggest that we all contact consumer services and demand satisfaction. The company doesn't make it without people like us. You can call Mary Simpson or her supervisor Tim Metcalf at 1-800-756-0608 option 7. I'm tired of getting ripped off by the rich companies when they could just look at their own message board and see that there is a problem with their systems. Think how it would look if they got 3 or 4 hundred complaints at the BBB in one day. And phone calls to consumer services at the above number in one day. And emails to Mark Hurd (CEO) all in one day. I just emailed him a word document with everyone of these complaints on this site copied and pasted. Just the wireless problems were 134 pages and almost 60,000 words. And maybe everyone of us go on Amazon, Best Buy, and everywhere else that we can find and give reviews of the HP products and services. Let's stand up and be counted.

Here is what I know about the whole DV6000/DV9000 series. The motherboard and the broadcom card have an issue. And some others. HP' original fix was to use f.38 BIOS update. F.38 however, was bricking systems so HP pulled it. The word from on high is to have customer send in the unit for mobo swap to a working version. So if you call for support and they want to set it up for service, that's the option that HP is giving for the 6000/9000 notebook. I did see an F.39 on a compaq site. No word on if this is the correct fix.

If someone has sent in their unit for service, can you post what BIOS version your machine now has?

Well if you push the right buttons you can get service, I did! HP sent me a box through Fedex and I sent my notebook in on 10/23/07 at about 12:30 P.M. through Fedex and received it back on 10/25/07 at 1:30 P.M. It is now working and has a new motherboard.

I have a Pavillion dv2120us and am having the same problem. Spent an hour on the phone with customer service yesterday arguing with them about reading me a script.(I repair desktops but have never worked on notebooks) I tried assuring him that I had tried all the troubleshooting on his list. Finally he said they would send me a box to send it in for repairs. I asked what they thought was wrong with it and he said they would not know until they checked it out. Funny when I logged in to check the status it said it was a MOBO issue. You can never get a straight answer out of these guys because they are reading a script and know nothing about what they are telling you. I will respond back when I receive my machine back and let you know how long it took and what they did.
