Losing wireless after idle for 10 minutes
I have an NC6400 notebook, brand new. When the notebook sits for 10 minutes or so, the wireless connection goes away. I cannot access my network either. The icon in the tray says I am connected, but nothing comes up when I right click. I can go into control panel to try the repair, but it just hangs. I then reboot and have to go into Network connections to enable the wireless again. Then everything works fine until the notebook sits. I have no power management on. I turned all that off, as well as the screen saver. The wired connection is fine. Please help. India support has been of no help so far.

Re: Losing wireless after idle for 10 minutes
hi Mike,
First thing on my mind was that you were getting a connection to the wireless AP but weren't getting dhcp addresses, but since you said that wired connection works fine i guess that's not the case.
The problem seems to be related to hardware malfunction.
Just try two things to be sure:
1) try connection to the same wireless network with different hardware, either another computer, or with the same computer using a different wireless card (preferably you should try both)
2) try connection with the same hardware but on a different wireless network that you know it works, if you have no problems in another network, it means that the problem is with the wireless network and not your wireless card or computer.
hope this helps...
best regards,
hugo

Re: Losing wireless after idle for 10 minutes
Hi
If you open a command prompt and type ipconfig, does it have an IP? Try to just disable and enable the wireless connection. Think it will work.
As stated before, it looks like a problem with you wireless adapter. Hardware problem? Or just a driver problem? Note that there are problems with latest drivers for Intel wireless adapters...
Good luck

Re: Losing wireless after idle for 10 minutes
try this one go to the device manager and
check the power settings of your wireless card make sure you have it power on at all times the same goes for your USB connection
I have found that these two do not alway power back on when you move you mouse on both pc and laptop.

keep it simple
